About Saigon Saints.
Formed in 1995 and almost called Saigon Smokers a (a reference to the then sponsors) Saigon Saints have gradually established as one of HCMC most respected teams. We are a non-profit amateur expat Football club run by a team of volunteers. We compete in the annual Saigon International League. We train regularly, hold social events along with national and international tours.

Often inaccurately labeled as the British team. We are proud of our diversity, our current squad contains players from Ireland, France, Denmark, USA, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Holland, Spain, Argentina, and of course Vietnam.

In-fact we welcome all players regardless of age, ability and nationality. Some of our members work weekends and so only practice during the week and some are purely social. All are welcome, If you'd like to join, contact us and we'll guide you to our next training session where you can meet some of the guys.

Frequently asked questions.

I've not done much exercise for the last year or so, I'm keen to get back in shape but I'm worried about my appearance. Am I going to make a fool of myself?

This is often the case, you aren't the first person to turn up and wheeze through a training session and you won't be the last, in-fact quite a few of our regular players still do! Seriously, don't worry about it, its all about enjoying yourself and encouraging each other. You've got to start sometime, so get yourself down to training, fatty. (We feel obliged to point out that if your worried about your beer belly, joining The Saints can make it worse)

I'm approaching the twighlight years of my career, Am I going to be out of my depth around lots of younger players?
Honestly, no. Our squad contains players of all ages, the majority are in their 20's and 30's and there are a couple outside that range. Our youngest ever player was 12 our oldest 52!

Playing football in this heat, isn't that a bit crazy?
Sometimes, yes. But we take steps make it bare-able. These include:
· Pre-hydration taking on fluids the morning of a game.

· Rolling substitutions, enabling players to take short rests and cool down.
· Playing games as late as possible in the afternoon, usually about 4pm

· Re-hydration, sports drinks are available in most supermarkets in district 1.
